OUR HISTORY
Founded in 1866, Benevolent Living's mission has always been to provide care and support for those in our local community. Over 150 years later and our mission and purpose remain the same.
The Rockhampton Benevolent Home Society has a long and dignified history in the local Central Queensland community. Founded by ten local women, the sole aim of the organisation was to provide care and shelter for the needy in the community, particularly destitute women and children.
Over the years Benevolent has seen significant transformation and evolutions, including being a mental hospital, accommodation for unwed mothers an even a hostel for the homeless. However, through the changes, Benevolent never lost its charitable roots.
The organisation now exists as Benevolent Living, a community owned organisation that is designing a senior's living village that will create a significant enhancement to Central Queensland's seniors health and wellness.

Our 150 year cocktail party and champagne breakfast with special guest, Susan Pieters-Hawke was held on the weekend of the 30th and 31st of July 2016.
