Adrienne Williams

Adrienne has always been drawn to wilderness after growing up on a bush block on the outskirts of Brisbane. She paints stories of places she visits and works and uses colour as a traditional composition tool in contemporary form. Adrienne is a regional artist and has exhibited professionally since 1999 in commercial and public galleries.

Dry Sandy Creek Bed, Carnarvan Gorge / 2021

This work was painted after walking a trail at Carnarvon Gorge. Some days we walked high on ridgetops but on one afternoon we dropped down into a beautiful, quiet sandy creek bed to make our way into camp. Gentle afternoon light threw shadows across the soft coloured grasses and caught light on tree trunks for a brief moment.

In the Boronia Patch I / 2021

In the Boronia Patch I describes one spectacular September afternoon as we hiked the Cooloola Great Walk. Golden sunset light cast divine coloured shadows across the steep sand dunes, and the wildflowers were ‘singing’ with colour as we walked towards the Upper Noosa River. The evening sky sent a huge rainstorm as purple boronia blossomed all around us.
