STRATEGIC AND COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR


Benevolent Aged Care Ltd is a community owned, not-for-profit provider of aged care and retirement living in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.

Benevolent Aged Care Ltd operates Benevolent Living a 136 room residential aged care facility, and has recently developed and opened a new vertical retirement village consisting of 40 purpose built, quality, independent living units and onsite community facilities.


About The Role


We are seeking a board member with a strong commercial and business experience . Ideally, you will have experience or knowledge of the aged care and/or retirement living sector but this is not essential.

This is a remunerated position, recognising the commitment and professionalism required in the governance and oversight of an aged services organisation operating under the Aged Care and Retirement Villages Acts.

Our Board meets 8 times a year and has 3 Sub-Committees that provide oversight of the key  risk areas in our organisation – Finance, Clinical Governance, and Remuneration & Nomination.

As an organisation that serves our community, we maintain a ‘local’ regional presence on our board, and for that reason,  we are seeking someone who resides in the Central Queensland area. 


About You


Ideally, you will have:

  • Extensive leadership experience at a senior management level or as a business owner.

  • Demonstrated commercial or business acumen.

  • Experience in strategic planning would be an advantage

  • A passion for the aged services sector and contribute to our growth and sustainability.

  • Experience in the Aged Services Sector (highly regarded but not essential)

  • Corporate Governance skills, knowledge and experience.

  1. Understanding of the statutory requirements of a Director outlined in the Corporations Act and the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission.

  2. Governance – sound knowledge of best practice governance.

  3. Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills with all stakeholders, including public speaking and facilitation skills.

  4. Commercial astuteness – ability to demonstrate financial literacy and good business acumen.

  5. Strategic planning skills.

  6. Sound knowledge of Risk Management practices.
