STRATEGIC AND COMMERCIAL DIRECTOR
Benevolent Aged Care Ltd is a community owned, not-for-profit provider of aged care and retirement living in Rockhampton, Central Queensland.
Benevolent Aged Care Ltd operates Benevolent Living a 136 room residential aged care facility, and has recently developed and opened a new vertical retirement village consisting of 40 purpose built, quality, independent living units and onsite community facilities.
About The Role
We are seeking a board member with a strong commercial and business experience . Ideally, you will have experience or knowledge of the aged care and/or retirement living sector but this is not essential.
This is a remunerated position, recognising the commitment and professionalism required in the governance and oversight of an aged services organisation operating under the Aged Care and Retirement Villages Acts.
Our Board meets 8 times a year and has 3 Sub-Committees that provide oversight of the key risk areas in our organisation – Finance, Clinical Governance, and Remuneration & Nomination.
As an organisation that serves our community, we maintain a ‘local’ regional presence on our board, and for that reason, we are seeking someone who resides in the Central Queensland area.
About You
Ideally, you will have:
Extensive leadership experience at a senior management level or as a business owner.
Demonstrated commercial or business acumen.
Experience in strategic planning would be an advantage
A passion for the aged services sector and contribute to our growth and sustainability.
Experience in the Aged Services Sector (highly regarded but not essential)
Corporate Governance skills, knowledge and experience.

Understanding of the statutory requirements of a Director outlined in the Corporations Act and the Australian Charities and Not for Profit Commission.
Governance – sound knowledge of best practice governance.
Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills with all stakeholders, including public speaking and facilitation skills.
Commercial astuteness – ability to demonstrate financial literacy and good business acumen.
Strategic planning skills.
Sound knowledge of Risk Management practices.
