Benevolent Board elects New Chairman

Article from our new Chairman, Robert Sims

Appointment of Chairman of the Board

Dear all residents and families of Benevolent Living,

At our AGM on Wednesday 6 December the Board of Benevolent Living has elected me to the position of Chairman of the Board. I follow in the footsteps of our previous Chairman Kevin Hogan who has stepped down after 12 years as Chairman.

I first want to pay tribute to Kevin for his leadership and dedication which have been pivotal in shaping Benevolent during his tenure as Chair, during this time Kevin has guided us through significant changes and challenges with unwavering commitment and his contributions have laid a strong foundation for the innovative path we are now embarking upon with the Rhythm of Life Project including our new retirement village, Benevolent on West.

I also want to acknowledge Alison and the entire Leadership team whose dedication and expertise have been invaluable to us achieving our mission and I look forward to working with them as we continue to navigate a changing sector and provide the innovative and high quality of care that Benevolent is known for.

In the role of Chairman, I will draw upon my experience, both as a Director of Benevolent for the last 6 years, and my wider experience professionally as a senior leader in the Not-for-Profit sector for the last 16 years at CatholicCare Central Queensland. I have spent my entire career working in Central Queensland, predominantly in Rockhampton, with a couple of years living in Emerald and Capella having graduated high school at the Rockhampton Grammar school before completing a Bachelor of Business at CQU and eventually an MBA at Australian Catholic University.

Finally, I want to thank the Board both for their support in appointing me to this role and I look forward to working with the Board and the Management team as we embark on the journey ahead.
